Not For Me July 14, 2010 PR4LFE (Vegas) I cannot bash this Fruit Detox as it appears that there are many people who benefit from performing it. In my experience it was ok. I followed his instructions as indicated. Bought all organic foods at Whole Foods. About $85 for the three days and only used specific reverse osmosis water. The first day would be the hardest just being on liquids. I really started to get hungry around the 5th hour but made it either way. The second and third are not as hard since you do get some food but not fulfilling for the most part. Overall I did not do this to lose weight but for me I did lose around 3 lbs. I mainly had feelings of light headed, weekness (no physical activity for me during the 3 days). Following the third day I was really tired - more than usual I would say and just wanted to sleep. Now two days after I feel much better. Much more like myself. I wanted to try a small detox to see how my body would react and so I did. It was ok. Would I do another based off of this experience - probably not. If I had seen some sort of positive affect I would have but just to feel tired and week no thanks. After the last day I went to the gym and could really tell I was out of it. Really week - weird feeling. Anyways, it might work for some but not for me.
On a positive note his chocolate protein powder is actually pretty good even in water. First protein powder for me that does not upset my stomach. That was validated after having 5 servings on day one of the Detox. Not the cheapest but I will buy again.
YES, YES, YES!!!! FINALLY! February 12, 2010 L. M. STEWART (TX) Ok, I have one disclaimer. If you can't stick with everything the fruit flush tells you to do, there's a strong possibility that the diet won't be effective or as effective. On to my review....
I LOST 8LBS in 3 DAYS! Now I will say that I have a long way to go, however Mr Robb does say if you're not overweight that you may not have a huge weight loss, hence some of the reviews I've read stating they only lost 3 lbs. Well clearly 3 lbs when your goal is 6-9 lbs is very successful. The book says UP TO 9 lbs. No further explanation needed. My experience...
The first day was torture. Only because I LOVE food. A lot. Jay Robb's whey protein shakes are some of the best I've had, but yet it is still a whey protein shake, so if you can't stomach the shakes, you won't make it. I must say by my 4th shake, I was shook, but I kept going since I'd made it that far. I don't know if I was just hungry or if the salad was really good but the 6pm salad was suprisingly delicious. Mr Robb said I couldn't use salt which is my specialty but he never said I couldn't season it. So I had everything from garlic to italian seasoning. The avacado was yummy. The key here is to have A LOT of different vegetables. Lettuce, green onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, cilantro, cucumbers, etc. GREAT!
Fruit days were ok. I love fruit so I was excited. It probably wouldn't be half as bad if my co-workers didn't all get pizza for lunch during my cleanse but I toughed it out. I knew I only had 1 1/2 days left. Salad...yummy!
In any rate, 3 days later and I'm down 8lbs. I couldn't get past a hump in my weight loss, especially after the Super Bowl, but Mr Robb helped me to not only get past my hump but demolish it! Definitely starting Fat Diet next. I trust him to help me make this journey so much easier.
Good Luck All!
It's worth it January 28, 2010 trixiekins I am on day 3 of this plan. I will admit, I didn't buy the book and I didn't follow the plan exactly like it was laid out. I substituted a tiny bit of lean protein for the protein drink. Couldn't handle the thought of it. Also last night I had steamed veggies instead of a raw salad. The salad is a great idea but NOT satisfying in the least. With only a tsp of olive oil and some lemon it was flavorless and I had to pretty much force myself to finish it. I will be eating cooked veggies again tonight.
Anyway so far I have dropped 3 1/2 pounds with one day to go. Not in this to lose weight, although I could stand to lose 10 lbs. I wanted to detox and to stop drinking Diet Coke for 3 days to see how I felt. I also am one to not have much willpower, so I wanted to challenge myself to see if I really could do this. It's only 3 days. If it were a week I may not have been successful.
The first two days were NOT easy, especially without caffeine and sugar. And I was RAVENOUS! BUT - today I am feeling good! My skin has cleared up, my headaches are decreasing, not as hungry, and I am regaining energy.
I hope I can continue healthy eating after this, although it will be nice to be able to EAT. :)
I'd recommend this plan, but honestly, I think you can find enough basic info on the internet to be able to do it without the book.
Easy, sensible, but expensive flush January 18, 2010 WiseWoman (South Eastern USA) Jay Robb's products, to go with this book, are expensive! HIs flush, however, is easy to use and probably effective.
didn't work for me August 28, 2009 z (USA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I only lost 3 lbs on this flush detox diet, probably just water weight. I had eaten too well on vacation the week before going on the diet and was thrilled to think I could lose 9 lbs in 3 days...but that didn't happen. I am not overweight, am a size 8, but just wanted to get rid of my pouch. I think I would have lost the 3 lbs irregardless of this diet as I don't normally eat the stuff I ate on vacation (mayo and chips, e.g.).
